Department of Finance and Economics
The Department of Finance and Economics offers three degrees that provide the foundation you need to prepare for a career in finance, securities, real estate, law, and beyond, including a BA with a major in economics, a BBA with a major in finance or economics, and a minor in international business. Extend your classroom learning in our state-of-the-art T. Paul Bulmahn Research and Trading Lab, and join of our four student organizations, such as our 2018 Future of Energy Challenge-winning Net Impact Team, for even more opportunities for real-world applications of the skills you need to become a leader in finance and economics here in Central Texas or around the world.

CFA team recently competed in Southwest US Research Challenge and won the first place trophy. Mentored by Dr. Janet Payne.

The Department of Finance and Economics wants to send out a big congratulations to our Texas State University SMIF team, mentored by Dr.Toles. They recently competed in the Global Asset Management Education (GAME) competition and walked away with the 1st place trophy in the Fixed Income Division.

Each fall and spring semester, the McCoy College of Business invites accomplished entrepreneurs and business leaders to speak with students enrolled in the Studies in Entrepreneurship (MGT 3360) course. As part of this speaker series, students gain personal insights into entrepreneurship as the guest speakers describe their accomplishments, share stories about their career path, and offer recommendations for growth and success.
Although the speaker series is intended for students enrolled in MGT 3360, we are able to accommodate special guests on certain occasions. If you are interested in attending a presentation, complete our guest registration form via the link below.
